JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville police are investigating after a woman fired several shots at three men who broke into her home on Wednesday, officers said.

Officers were called to Park Via Veneto Apartments in Regency Wednesday around 6 p.m. after reports of a robbery.

There was a trail of blood leading down a staircase at the apartment complex and a door appeared to be broken, authorities said.

Police said the 19-year-old woman was home alone when three men forced their way into her apartment. She fired several shots and hit one of the men in the leg, police said.

The man, 21-year-old Kyle Williams, went to a walk-in clinic with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Officers took Williams into custody and taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment.

Williams was arrested and charged with burglary.

The woman is being questioned by police.

A neighbor told Action News Jax she saw a man with a bloody leg running toward a car in the parking lot. She said she heard seven gunshots and called 911.

It is unclear if the victim knew the three men, police said.
