ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — One person is dead and another was injured after a Porsche collided with a utility pole.

Officials responded around 1 a.m. Wednesday to a crash on State Road 16 near Masters Drive.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a 1997 Porsche Boxster lost control near Masters Drive and collided with a chain link fence and metal sign. The car then overturned and hit a utility pole, troopers said.

The passenger, Harrison Wilker, 18, of St. Augustine, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car, troopers said. He was taken to Flagler Hospital, where he died.

The driver, 21-year-old Jesse Viva of St. Augustine, received minor injuries. Police said alcohol was not involved, but speed was a factor in the crash.

FHP is continuing to investigate. Charges are pending.
