JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After years of discussion to bring a Publix to San Marco, talks continue.

People who live and work in the area want to know when and if a Publix will come to a corner lot at Atlantic Boulevard and Hendricks Avenue that has sat empty for years.

TRENDING:

The lot is owned by Regency Centers Corp. In 2002, the project to bring a Publix to San Marco began -- that was 17 years ago.

The company said before the recession, they put the project on hold, in fear they would be left with a partially constructed building.

Then in 2017, Regency Centers Corp was in talk with Archco, but plans for the Publix and a mixed use project fell through when they couldn't come to an agreement on numbers.

For people who live in the area, driving by this empty lot comes with frustrations having to travel miles to get to a grocery store.

Right now, the company says Publix remains committed to the location
