A 20-year-old has been charged with murder after his grandmother was reported missing and a body was found near their Satsuma home.
Deputies said Austin Steybe is charged with premeditated first-degree murder.
Putnam deputies began investigating after a person called 911 on Monday night and said she hadn't been able to reach 79-year-old Annie Flowers in two weeks.
Deputies came to her home on Patricia Place and talked with Steybe, who lived there with her.
He said he did not know where Flowers was and had not heard from her.
Evidence at the home led them to do a more thorough search of the area.
They found a woman's body in the woods approximately 20 yards from the home.
Detectives are waiting for DNA results to confirm the person's identity.
Deputies are still searching for Flowers' van, a blue 1997 Honda Odyssey LX with handicap plate YJ84C. It has a dent on driver side rear.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case or missing van to call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 329-0801.
