Fire at abandoned factory in Palatka under investigation

PALATKA, Fla. — A fire that started at an abandoned factory in Palatka on Sunday is under investigation by the city’s fire department.

The fire started around 4:15 p.m. in the 700 block of River Street. Crews got the fire under control around 6 p.m. There were no reported injuries.

The factory has been unoccupied and without power for years, according to the Palatka Fire Department. Due to these circumstances, they are calling this fire suspicious.

An investigation is underway to find the cause of the fire.
