CRESCENT CITY, Fla. — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office had their work cut out for them when they made an arrest Monday.
On Monday, deputies received a report that someone was carrying a machete and acting erratically inside a Winn-Dixie in Crescent City. According to deputies, the woman, identified as Neomi Brown, 41, had a machete in a blade cover attached to a backpack and was animated, yelling at someone on her cellphone.
A Winn-Dixie manager asked deputies to remove Brown from the property.
While deputies were processing paperwork, they discovered Brown had a warrant for her arrest in Volusia County.
When officers informed Brown of her warrant, she became violent and started fighting with deputies. She kicked a deputy in the face, but they were eventually able to restrain her, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said after Brown was placed in the patrol car, she began to defecate in the backseat. Then she tried to throw feces over the partition separating the front and backseats onto the deputy while he was driving. She then spit on the deputy, according to the sheriff’s office.
Finally, Brown was turned in to the Putnam County Jail, and deputies began cleaning the patrol car. While cleaning the car, deputies found a 12-gram bag of methamphetamine in the backseat, officials said. Fourteen grams is considered trafficking.
Brown was charged with two counts of battery on an officer, resisting arrest with violence, and possession of methamphetamine, on top of her warrant for Volusia County.
Brown is being held at the Putnam County Jail without bond.
