JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said three men between the ages of 22-25 were shot on Thursday after the office originally reported that the victims were teens.

The men were shot in an Arlington neighborhood and nearby public schools were on a Code Red lockdown.

The shooting happened near the Azalea Ridge apartments. Terry Parker High School, Arlington Middle School and Parkwood Heights Elementary were on lock down during the incident.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the shooting started in the 8100 block of Alderman Road.

Officers responded to a call at 1:40 p.m. about someone being shot. While they were heading to the area, a second report came in that another person was shot.

Officers found a car matching the description of the one that left the crime scene and three people were detained. The officers did not realize that one of the men had been shot.

The people are being taken in for questioning. Officers cannot say whether the shooting is connected to a previous one but they said that the shooting was not gang-related.

No weapon has been found but investigators were trying to locate one in a nearby retention pond.
