JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Your health and safety -- it is the reason we go out every week to get you answers about the places you where love to eat. In this week’s original Restaurant Report, Action News Jax Ben Becker tells us about violations that inspectors found at Jacksonville restaurants.

Subway is known for its sandwiches, but the location at Old Baymeadows Road and Southside Boulevard is in a pickle for the second time in six months.

Becker paid a visit to the restaurant and asked for the manager. In a recent inspection, 11 live roaches and 65 dead roaches were found and there was a toxic substance stored near single-service items. It was temporarily closed.

This isn’t the first time this location has been on our report.

In February, we spoke with the manager after it was temporarily closed by the state for dead and live roaches and was asked to leave.

It was more of the same when Becker stopped by again.

“I’d appreciate if you guys would leave,” the manager told Becker.

Elsewhere, Ruta Catracha on Beach Boulevard near Burkholder was cited for eight live roaches, raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food and food stored on the floor. It was temporarily closed.

Inspectors say Mi Tierra Latina on Beney Road near University Boulevard had nine live roaches, roach excrement present and the establishment was operating without a license.

Clark’s Fish Camp on Hood Landing Road, near Julington Creek road was cited for live small flying insects in the kitchen, potentially hazardous food temperatures and a wall soiled with accumulated grease.
