CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County school bus collided with a construction truck off Russell Road in Green Cove Springs.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the only occupants of the school bus were the driver and two 13-year-old girls.

Troopers say as the driver attempted to turn onto Russell Road from Hands Drive, the left side of the school bus collided with a parked construction truck.

No injuries were reported.

The Department of Transportation reports American students are nearly eight times safer riding in a school bus than with their own parents and guardians in cars. The fatality rate for school buses is only 0.2 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled compared to 1.5 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled for cars.
