Shooting near Stanton College Preparatory School triggers lockdown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded Friday to a shooting near Stanton College Preparatory School, which triggered a lockdown.

Police confirmed two people were shot near 16th Street and Myrtle Avenue and at this time, there is not believed to be any outstanding suspects.

Duval County Public Schools said Stanton College Preparatory School was on a Code Yellow lockdown and that staff and students were safe. The school district said this means that there is limited movement, but that classroom instruction continues. As a precaution, the school remained on a Code Yellow for the remainder of the school day and were dismissed as normal.
