The secretary of defense has issued a directive to cut down the number of troops in the United States.

As of Monday, military personnel who have not been eligible for deployment for 12 consecutive months will be told they will be reviewed for involuntarily separation. That means some sailors in Jacksonville could eventually be discharged.

The non-deployment status can be for anything ranging from health to personal issues.

Not all military members contacted will eventually be discharged, especially if a military member could soon be back in deployable status.
