JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Duval County School Board Police has arrested a Jacksonville man who they say recorded two kids inside a bathroom at Riverside High School.
On Sept. 9, the young victims told police they spotted a red cell phone peering from a bathroom stall, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The victims became suspicious and confronted the suspect inside, who they said ran from the bathroom.
Police say the man was captured on school surveillance video entering the bathroom before the incident and running from the bathroom a short time later with a red cell phone in his hand.
The man was identified as 25-year-old Jamal Collins. Police say he was reportedly at the school helping his mother, who is an instructor, with a school activity.
According to court records, Collins is a registered sex offender. Records with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement show he was convicted of sexual battery in 2019.
Collins’ arrest report lists his employer as First Coast Leadership Foundation Jacksonville. A spokesperson with the organization told Action News Jax that Collins has not worked for them since 2020. Collins’ photo was listed on FCLFJ’s website Thursday morning but has since been removed.
Collins is charged with felony video voyeurism.
