Southwest pilot charged with DUI, arrested at Georgia airport

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A Southwest Airlines pilot is facing DUI charges after showing up to a Georgia airport while intoxicated.

Action News Jax’s Atlanta station WSB-TV is reporting that David Allsop, 52, from New Hampshire, was arrested at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport on Wednesday morning.

Flight tracker Flight Aware shows the flight bound for Chicago was delayed from 6:05 a.m. to 10:56 a.m. as the airline worked to get a new pilot.

Southwest issued the following statement:

“We’re aware of a situation involving an Employee on Flight 3772 this morning from Savannah. The Employee has been removed from duty. Customers were accommodated on other flights, and we apologize for the disruption to their travel plans. There’s nothing more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Employees and Customers.”

Allsop was granted a $3,500 bond, according to jail records.
