Spirit Airlines is adding nonstop flights from Jacksonville to two major cities.
The airline announced Wednesday it will begin nonstop daily service from Jacksonville to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Detroit Metro Airport beginning Dec. 20.
Jacksonville is Spirit’s 69th destination. It also flies from Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Tampa and West Palm Beach.
News about Spirit's new flights comes the same day Silver Airways announced it is suspending its operations in Jacksonville on Nov. 4.
The airline said there is not enough demand for service on these routes at this time.
Customers scheduled to travel to or from Jacksonville will be automatically refunded in the order of their scheduled flights.
The airline said it is not necessary to call their customer service line.
