Jacksonville, Fl — WOKV’s Jacksonville Mayoral candidate spotlight series wraps up today with an interview with LeAnna Cumber. She’s the District 5 Council Member and lives in San Marco.
Cumber addressed pressing issues like crime, economic development, neighborhood improvement and more.
“What’s really going to make our downtown flourish are the businesses, the restaurants, the small businesses. If you look at a Charleston. Charleston doesn’t have a lot of skyscraper apartments in their urban area. Savannah doesn’t either. What they have are walkable areas for people to come to.”, said Cumber.
She says JSO needs more officers on the street, and that includes filling vacancies.
“There’s about 350 empty slots at the sheriff’s office between corrections officers and kind of boots on the ground.”, Cumber said.
Cumber also addressed JEA’s failed privatization and the role her husband played as a former JEA Board Member.
