The St. Johns County doctor accused of trading sex for prescription pills says it’s not true.
Action News Jax's Michael Yoshida went through a 37-page report detailing the emergency suspension of Dr. Asok Ray's license.
It alleges his wife was practicing medicine in his office without a license and it all happened between November 2015 and February 2017.
Records show Ray has been practicing medicine since 1970. On Tuesday, following a raid on his office at 5543 A1A S, the doctor walked Action News Jax through his office saying he and his wife never did anything wrong.
Yoshida: “What about the allegations against your wife?”
Ray: “Absolutely false!”
Yoshida: “So you’re saying she has a license here in Florida.”
Ray: “Absolutely fraudulent!”
But a report from the Florida Department of Health details numerous alleged interactions between the doctor, informants and undercover deputies, at times asking for them to "take care of him" and "have sex with him or he would stop writing prescriptions."
"I'm not surprised," said Hannah, who works next door.
She's one of several Action News Jax spoke with who say they thought something suspicious was going on at the doctor's office.
"Because he seems to give drugs out like candy," Hannah said.
Another worker said, "there were licenses from out of state, Georgia and what not ... People just hanging out and they'd all meet up. And it just … it all looked like drug deals."
On Tuesday, it wasn't patients but deputies waiting for Ray. He still he denies doing anything wrong.
Ray: "No way Jose!"
Yoshida: “You didn’t ask patients for sexual favors?”
Ray: “Never, never. You can ask each and everybody!”
The doctor later went on to say he believed he was set up.
“The law, the government sent me nude girls! What the (expletive) you expect me to do? Excuse my language. They entrapped me," Ray said.
Yoshida: “So you say this is entrapment.”
Ray: “Absolutely, positively, definitely.”
Action News Jax was told Tuesday's raid was part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Yoshida: "What's your lawyer's name? Who should we talk to? Your lawyer's name?"
Ray: “I don’t know.”
Yoshida: "You don't know your lawyer's name?"
Not sure of his lawyer's name, Roy was adamant he did nothing wrong and that there was nothing to talk about.
The report also details recorded conversations and interactions undercover deputies had with the doctor as well as text messages.
