The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office released an update Wednesday to one of the most bizarre cases in recent memory.

Authorities said Steven Canard, 55, had a loaded gun in his car when he was killed in a traffic crash on March 6. Canard was killed when his Volkswagen Jetta was struck by a motorcycle driven by Oliver Collins, 24.

St. Johns County has appeal, but comes with high price tag

Canard's Jetta was hit so hard in the driver's door that it overturned and Canard was ejected from the car. Both Canard and Collins died at the scene.

Later, Canard's roommate, James Weaver, was discovered dead in the trailer they shared on Los Robles Court in St. Augustine.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Weaver died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities said Wednesday that a loaded gun was found in Canard's car.

One round was missing from the gun. Weaver's death is now classified as a homicide, and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said they would continue to investigate.
