ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Action News Jax has learned about more than 150 students that were sent home sick from Creekside High School on Thursday from St. Johns County School District official.

The St. Johns County School District believes there is a stomach illness going around.

Action News Jax’s Elizabeth Pace called nearby hospitals to ask if they have seen an increase in stomach flu or viruses this week and is waiting to hear back.

The illness led to the cancellation of Thursday night’s Creekside Lady Knights basketball game.

The following email was sent to Creekside High School families:

Good evening Knight Families,

Today 19 students visited the school nurse exhibiting stomach-related issues and subsequently were sent home. We have taken extra precautions to disinfect the school to ensure we are ready for normal operations tomorrow. I have attached a link to the SJCSD Illness and Prevention Guidelines and Tips to help you stay healthy during this time of year, www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/health/illness. We appreciate your support and understanding.

Have a good evening!
