St. Johns deputies searching for suspects’ car in I-95 shooting

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — At around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said it received calls of a shooting on Interstate 95 and mile marker 327 southbound. A red car approached the victim’s vehicle and opened fire.

In a newly released statement, SJSO said that a male driver was struck by gunfire and crashed into the center guard rail of the highway. Also, a female passenger was injured by broken glass. Both victims were transported to area hospitals.

The red car continued driving southbound. A search for this vehicle, which is pictured, with unknown suspects is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who might have been driving in the area during the shooting and have video recordings active in their vehicle to please review the footage.
