Ponte Vedra man arrested after computer repair technician finds child porn on his laptop, police say

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Peter Jacob, 63, of Ponte Vedra Beach was arrested on 15 different counts of child pornography Wednesday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest report states Jacob took two laptops to a computer repair technician and asked to transfer data from one device to the other. When the technician transferred the data, he found Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on Jacob’s device.

The technician alerted authorities and told them he found the material in the recycling bin of the laptop. The technician said the CSAM he found depicted children as young as 10-12, according to the arrest report.

Authorities seized the laptop and hard drive and digital forensics detectives conducted a forensic download of the device.

The report stated detectives located “numerous files” of CSAM as well as files indicating Jacob was the sole user of the device.

Jacob is charged with 15 counts of possession of obscene material, possessing 10 or more child porn images for each count, according to the arrest report.

This isn’t the first time Jacob has had his name in headlines.

He sang an original song at a popular beach pub the night of the 2021 NFL draft. His song gained traction, so much so, Barstool Sports wrote about it and shared the video of his performance. (Action News Jax is choosing not to share Barstool Sports’ article as it contains explicit language.)
