St. Johns deputy hit by driver during traffic stop released from hospital

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy who was injured Friday night after being hit by a car during a traffic stop has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Action News Jax told you last night the deputy was on the passenger side of a stopped vehicle when another driver hit the stopped car. Deputies said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on US-1 near Valley Ridge Boulevard in Ponte Vedra when the crash occurred.

The deputy was thrown some distance by the force of the crash. The occupants of the stopped vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
