State Attorney R.J. Larizza is expected to give an update on the investigation into the murder of St. Johns County teen Tristyn Bailey on Thursday afternoon.
Aiden Fucci, 14, is currently charged with second-degree murder in Tristyn’s death.
Larizza will be giving an update on the case at 4 p.m. at the St. Johns County Courthouse. On Tuesday, his office originally announced that he would be holding a news conference at 2:30 p.m., but decided to move it after consulting with the Bailey family and the St. Johns County School District.

On Monday, Larizza’s office said he would give an update on the case “towards the end of the week.” Here is the full statement from the State Attorney’s Office, released on Monday:
“State Attorney R.J. Larizza will conduct a press conference towards the end of the week regarding the Murder of Tristyn Bailey. We appreciate the patience and support from family, friends, neighbors and all of the folks who have been following this disturbing case. We are in the final stages of our comprehensive review of the facts, circumstances and the law. It is Mr. Larizza’s intention to address several questions/issues that surfaced as a result of this brutal homicide at that time.”
On Friday, a judge allowed Fucci’s original attorney to withdraw from the case and the teen will now be represented by the public defender’s office.
Fucci was arrested on May 10 and the State Attorney’s Office has until 21 days after his arrest to decide if he should be tried as an adult.

Tristyn, who attended Patriot Oaks Academy, was reported missing on May 9 -- Mother’s Day -- and found dead later that day in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced the next day, on May 10, that Fucci was being charged with second-degree murder in Tristyn’s death.

On Tuesday, May 11, investigators revealed that Tristyn had been stabbed to death.

A petition on Change.org has gathered more than 200,000 signatures, urging the State Attorney’s Office to charge Fucci as an adult.

A memorial service for Tristyn was held Tuesday, May 18 at Celebration Church.
