SAINT JOHNS, Fla. — One man is in jail after a wrong-way crash in St. Johns County Tuesday afternoon.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said they received calls of an individual driving the wrong way on St. Johns Parkway, running a red light, turning eastbound on Racetrack Road, and eventually coming to a stop when he crashed into another car.

The driver, Kevin Oberland, 47, was speeding when he rear-ended another car, turning it on its side on Racetrack Road, SJSO said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said Oberland was still sitting in the driver’s seat.

A standardized field sobriety test was conducted, but due to his erratic behavior and concern for safety, they did not complete the test.

Action News Jax received video of the scene, where you can see Oberland handcuffed walking along the side of the road with an officer assisting him.
