A longtime bar off Heckscher Drive is closed indefinitely after high winds damaged the building while customers were inside.
Strong storms ripped the roof off of Barz Liquors and Fishcamp Wednesday.
Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh said a probable microburst blew through the ferry’s landing area during the powerful storms.
The damage is most devastating to owner Elaine Shaw.
“My parents started this business back in 1972," Shaw said. "I’ve been here 35 of those years."
Shaw said this is the first time her business has suffered any serious damage in 45 years.
Wednesday's storms dropped golf ball-sized hail and inches of rain on the east side of Jacksonville.
Many roads near the beaches flooded during Wednesday's floods.
