JACKSONVILLE, Fla — It’s back to school season and students in foster care need our help so that they too can have a successful academic school year.

Today Family Support Services along with some sponsors and community partners got together to give children in need a fresh backpack as they get ready to head back to school.

“I don’t know if you can imagine going to Elementary school and not having a backpack or all of your supplies,” says Teleauba Revels.

Today at The Ritz Theatre and Museum, Family Support Services had their annual Packs4Jax school supply drive. It benefits kids in foster care.

“We really rely on our community members and corporations to help fund this event,” says Brittany Tennant.

Family Support Services says every year they pile up a list of back-to-school supplies for children and you in need.

“I teach parenting and peer recovery support to families coming into the child welfare system,” says Teleauba Revels.

Teleauba Revels says she knows how much real love and supports means to children.

“We’re making sure that these children don’t have to go to school and be different … clothing, being able to do extracurricular activities, all the things other kids are doing sometimes they’re not able to do and it does affect them,” says Teleauba Revels.

If you would like to help these kids out, you can.

“We will have drop off dates again tomorrow Monday July 25th and Tuesday July 26th at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Ritz Theater,” says Brittany Tennant.
