JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police said a man admitted to stabbing his girlfriend outside a Jacksonville mobile home after she admitted to being unfaithful to him.

The 40-year-old from Puerto Rico walked into a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office substation on Tuesday morning and said he had done something bad to his wife.

The JSO officer saw a call had been dispatched to Townsend Road for a homicide.

A 38-year-old woman also from Puerto Rico was found stabbed to death in the driver seat of a car on Townsend Road.

The man told police he saw a car leave their driveway after she climbed into bed Monday night.

He said he woke up at 4 a.m. and she was no longer there. He saw the same car outside across the street. It left the house and his girlfriend walked over to him.

He confronted her and she denied any wrongdoing and they went to bed.

The argument continued Tuesday morning and she admitted she had been unfaithful to him the night before.

She also insulted him and his manhood, according to police.

She decided to leave and went out to her car, where the argument continued.

He went inside, grabbed a knife and stabbed her in the chest. He then left the house.

Her teenage children called police when they found her wounded in the driver seat of the car.

He is charged with second degree murder.

Teenage children called and said they found her with a stab wound in her chest in a car outside the home.

A family member called police Tuesday morning about a person's death. Police found a woman dead in a home at the Country Roads Trailer Park in the 6500 block of Townsend Road, which is in the Duclay neighborhood.

A man turned himself into a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office substation. He is being interviewed by detectives.

The relationship of the victim and the suspect are not known, but they do know each other.

"This is not a random murder," said JSO PIO Melissa Bujeda.

The investigation is ongoing.
