WOODBINE, Ga. — A Ware County School teacher and a part-time law enforcement officer has been put on administrative leave following his arrest after soliciting a juvenile for sodomy, the Ware County School District said in a statement Thursday.

On Wednesday, deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Waterfront Park in Woodbine regarding an incident with a 16-year old boy.

Deputies said they spoke with the mother of the teen, who told them she witnessed Tracy Wayne Crosby, 42, having a "a sexual relationship" with her son at the park.

The minor had left home and wouldn't tell his mother exactly where he was going, police said.

Deputies later learned the Crosby and the teen arranged the meetup online.

Investigators were called to the scene, and Crosby was arrested.

Students at Ware County High School tell Action News Jax Crosby taught law at the school, and even enforced the rules during pick-up and drop-off.

“He used to ride around the parking lot every morning. He was the one who told us what the laws were,” said senior Chastity Jones. “Everybody is really just shocked.”

Action News Jax learned that Crosby worked as a part-time deputy with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff tells us he’s been fired.

Before that, Crosby was a deputy with the Ware County Sheriff’s Office.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate and said further charges may be pending.
