JSO states that the 2300 block of North Main Street will be closed while operations are held. It is unknown when the road will reopen.

Chief Keith Powers, JFRD, states that while there is no cause yet that brought the building down, the former auction house had been abandoned with a rotted-out roof.

JEA is on the scene as they work to remove service lines to the building for safety purposes.

Plans to demolish the building are underway to occur either tonight or early Tuesday morning as engineers evaluate the integrity of the building, per Cheif Powers. However, due to the nature of the collapse, Chief Powers states that the building is dangerous to go in and could delay any evaluations.
