Two people bitten by shark(s), per Fernandina Beach Police

The Fernindina Beach Police have confirmed that two people were bitten by a shark on Friday, and that the beaches are closed for the rest of the day.

The incidents occurred at the beach located near Sadler Road and Access 31.

One of the victims is a 17-year-old with a serious bite to the ankle/foot area, according to police.

The other victim is a 30-year-old victim bitten on the foot, officials said.

Neither injury is life threatening.

The Nassau chief told Action News that fishermen have been catching sharks off Fernandina Beach all week.

A Nassau County Sheriff's truck can be seen driving down the beach and the officer can be hear yelling for beach goers to exit the water due to two people bitten by shark(s).

Officials aid they will re-evaluate the situation in the morning to determine whether the beaches will be open.
