A crash near the Blanding Blvd. and Collins Road exit on I-295 killed two people around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash involved a car and a semi-truck and led to the closure of all southbound lanes of I-295.
The victims were, who were traveling in a 2002 Ford Mustang, were identified by FHP on Sunday morning: driver 29-year-old Justin R. Conn and passenger 28-year-old Christina A. Ross. A second passenger, a 29-year-old man, is in critical condition.
The Mustang was attempting to pass a 2016 Freightliner truck when they touched, sending both vehicles into the shoulder of the road. The Mustang was trapped under the semitruck.
The driver of the semitruck and his passenger were not injured.
None of the occupants of the Mustang were wearing seatbelts. It is not yet known if alcohol was involved.
