The University of North Florida students in the controversial Snapchat video appearing to mock a Black Lives Matter rally will not be punished, according to UNF's Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity.
According to the report from the OEOD at the university after an investigation into the incident, the students weren’t a threat.
UNF students in October thought the boys in the video should face consequences after the video sparked controversy on campus.
“The student has to have some accountability for their action because you’re in college, you’re an adult,” said Ryan McClure, a UNF student.
Students fought for action, holding a study-in outside UNF President John Delaney’s office.
The report goes on to say that the video was an isolated incident and there is no evidence the students have acted in a manner targeting students based on race, but that the person who posted the video is working toward a better understanding of diversity.
