UPDATE: Fight between two girls led up to shooting that killed young father, teen at park

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Impact Team detectives say that by all indications from their investigation, at this time, the shootings were not random.

The Sheriff's Office says two girls were in a dispute and agreed to meet at the park to fight. According to the Sheriff's Office, other people showed up to watch the fight, and during the fight people watching became involved.

The Sheriff's Office said that some of the other people who got involved in the fight were carrying with firearms and fired shots.

Four people were shot. A 24-year-old father and a 14-year-old both died.

The 24-year-old man died at the scene and the teen died at the hospital a short time later.

The Sheriff's Office is asking, "Detectives are asking for anyone who was at the park during this time and witnessed the fight or the shooting to contact JSO. We request any information on any social media platform or videos of the incident that would assist with this investigation."
