A man who says he was a victim of a Saturday crash and shooting that happened on 103rd Street in Jacksonville said he and his wife ducked for cover when the gunfire started.

Kenneth Edenfield told Action News Jax on Sunday he and his wife were in one of three cars involved in the crash.

Edenfield said a vehicle sped out of Timber Run Condominiums off 103rd Street and crashed into his car. The victim said, in effect, his car hit another vehicle. He said the driver of the third vehicle is a teenager who suffered a fractured arm.

Before Edenfield and his wife exited their car, he said he saw someone walking down the street with a rifle before hearing gunfire.

Edenfield said he and his wife, who broke finger in the crash, ducked for cover.

Jacksonville police said the shooting happened before and after a traffic accident in front of the condominium complex.

Edenfield said he heard up to 20 gunshots ring. Once the gunshots ceased, he said the driver who caused the crash came over to him and his wife to see if they were OK before emergency rescue personnel took the driver to the hospital.

Witnesses told police three males fled from one of the vehicles involved in the crash. A witness added that one of the males had entered a nearby Walgreens located off Rickers Road.

Police said they are still searching for the individual or individuals involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting and crash is asked to call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at 630-0500 or contact Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
