WARE COUNTY, Ga. — Ware County Schools will be closing early for winter break following a rise in COVID-19 cases among students, staff members and bus drivers, the district announced.
Tuesday, Dec. 15, is the last instructional day of the first semester for all elementary and middle school students.
High school students will be allowed on campus for a half-day on Wednesday in order to take finals.
The district said there will be bus transportation to and from the high school and students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Parents who may have questions can call the school directly.

“Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases among staff members, bus drivers, and students, Tuesday, December the 15th will be the last instructional day of the first semester for all elementary and middle school students. High school students who must take finals will report to school on Wednesday, December 16th for a half-day. Bus transportation to and from the high school will be provided, and students will be dismissed at 1:00pm.
End of Pathway Assessments scheduled for Wednesday the 16th will be postponed until the second semester. High school students who must take an End of Pathway Assessment but do not have to take a final exam do not need to report to school on Wednesday.
All athletic events scheduled for December 16th - 18th have been canceled and may be rescheduled at a later date.
All Ware County Schools staff members will report to work on December 16th to perform a deep cleaning before being dismissed at 1:00pm. Staff members will not report to work on December 17th and 18th.”
