Pennsylvania-based convenience store and gas station Wawa continues its trek into Northeast Florida, with two groundbreaking celebrations scheduled for April 6.
Wawa is known for serving hoagies, freshly brewed coffee and soups, sides and snacks. Customers can customize their order at touch-screen kiosks inside the store, then pick up their meal or drink from the counter. Ready-made food is also available in Wawa stores.

Wawa sent Action News Jax two "save the dates" for April 6 groundbreaking celebrations; one in Jacksonville at 10 a.m. and another one in Clay County at 1:30 p.m.
Those "save the dates" said "more details to follow" and did not include what exact locations the celebrations would take place.
However, Action News Jax has previously reported that the first store in the area is set to be on Town Center Parkway in The Crossing, near the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville. The first Clay County location revealed to be in the permitting stage was a site at Blanding Boulevard and Filmore Street in Orange Park.

As soon as Action News Jax learns where exactly the events will take place, we will bring that information to you.
In June, Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens told Action News Jax that construction on stores would begin in the spring of 2017 and would open in late 2017.
Other identified Wawa sites include two in Clay County, one in East Arlington and the company is also looking at sites in St. Johns County. Wawa says it wants to open 30 to 40 stores in Northeast Florida, and the stores are expected to bring 1,000 jobs to the area.
