The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police are working to identify the woman killed in a car crash in the Lackawanna area.

The crash started as a call about a robbery -- and it turned into a deadly crash. A man driving a white SUV crashed his vehicle around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Neighbors in this area of Jacksonville say the area is a hub for prostitution. Police are working to figure out the relationship between the man and woman.

Neither person has yet been publicly identified by JSO.

The woman was reportedly dragged down Thompson Street by a white Hummer before it slammed into this tree.

The Hummer was not stolen, JSO said.

A man who has lived in this neighborhood for 30 years told Action News Jax the prostitution problem is only getting worse.

"[This area] is nothing but prostitutes," he said. "We call the law every time we go through there. The cops come out and take them to jail. The next day they're right back down there. It's like that every day."

JSO says they are speaking with the driver to get his side of the story.
