A Jacksonville woman is recovering after she claims a man attacked her in a road-rage incident and then drove off.

A shattered windshield, a banged up bumper and dents now cover Amanda Head’s SUV after she claims a man attacked her while at a red light.

"This is where he actually tried to get into my vehicle in such a rage, it was terrifying," Head said.

Head said she was driving eastbound on Arlington Expressway and was exiting at Arlington Road when a Toyota Camry hit her from behind.

"They slammed into the back of me, not once, but twice," said Head.

When she got to the light at Arlington Road, Head said the man got out his car and tried to get to her.

"He gets out the car and is cussing me out basically punching my car trying to get into my car. He ends up kicking my car," Head said.

Head said he then drove off and she called 911.

"I started following him and that's when they told me 'no, don't follow him it's not safe go somewhere and wait,'" said Head.

Action News Jax obtained the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office incident report. In it, Head and a witness both told officers that when the suspect’s car returned to the scene, the man who attacked Head wasn't inside. A woman was behind the wheel instead.

"And take him wherever and pick up kids to bring back to make it look like children were in the car when there weren't," said Head.

Head said she was in the hospital until 6 a.m. Thursday and has minor injuries from the crash.
