Woman and teen arrested for murder in the Hillcrest area after deadly fight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Janice Franklin, 36, and a teen boy were arrested after a person was shot in 1200 Lane Avenue South.

On May 31, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrived to a black male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department were notified and responded to treat the victim. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was in a fight with two other people in a parking lot when he was shot. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

The relationship between the suspects and the victim is unknown.

Detectives with JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Units were notified and responded to conduct their respective investigations. Based on a review of the evidence on scene, as well as interviews conducted by detectives, potential suspects in this case were quickly identified.

These two individuals, were ultimately identified as the suspects responsible for the crime.
