It has been one year since a Nassau County mother of three disappeared.

Joleen Cummings' body has never been found.

Now investigators are focused in on the only suspect in her murder case Kimberly Kessler, a co-worker who was charged in Cummings' murder.

Dan Mckinney, who is retired with the Department of Defense uses infrared and sonar technologies to look for local missing people.

“If something is lost, it needs to be found.” Mckinney said.

He’s spent countless hours looking for Cummings near bodies of water, truck stops and wooded areas of County Road 210.

Mckinney also focuses on places Kessler was known to frequent in the past.

He’s searched for missing people for years, in that time he has found two bodies.

He’s hopeful one day Cummings remains are found and her family finds peace

“It’s her mother who inspired me to search because she would not quit searching.” Mckinney said.

Cummings' mother did not want to talk on camera Monday as this time is extremely difficult for her and her family -- since it is also Joleen’s birthday.

Her mother has made several public posts on social media asking for prayers in the hopes her daughter's remains will one day be found.
