JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax is projecting that Republican Nick Howland is the winner of the 2022 Jacksonville City Council Special Election for the At-Large Group 3 seat.

Howland provided Action News Jax with the following statement Wednesday morning:

“We are thrilled with last night’s results. Our message has clearly resonated with voters. That is strong support for public safety, job growth of our city and improvement in the quality of life for every neighborhood in Jacksonville. Thanks to an amazing group of dedicated volunteers, we were able to get that message out to all corners of our great city.

This election was to fulfill the remaining term of the late Tommy Hazouri, a giant of a leader for Jacksonville. While our politics may have differed, what I respected most about Tommy was his 30 years of servant leadership to his city. Servant leadership was the theme of our campaign and it will be my focus on Council. I look forward to serving all the residents of Jacksonville and working with my fellow Council Members to move our great city forward.”
