Jacksonville, FL — Runners and walkers, get ready. It’s time to start training for Jacksonville’s second annual Black Lives Matter 5K.
The race is scheduled for May 1 and registration is open now.
BLM 5K has partnered with a Dallas-based nonprofit called Soul Reborn to organize the run and a pre-run gala at the Grand Rose Ballroom in Arlington.
In a news release, Tanisha Crisp, the founder of BLM 5K said, “More than ever as a community it is important for us to unite with one another and give support to the Black community after experiencing a horrific tragic year in 2020. The year of 2020 was filled with heartache, death, injustice, and mourning after the deaths of unarmed Black individuals at the hands of police brutality.”
The BLM 5K is conditionally approved to have 2,000 participants. Social distancing and the mask mandate will be enforced.
There will be live music and food trucks.
