President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is suspending all travel between the U.S. and Europe for 30 days beginning Friday as he seeks to combat the viral pandemic.
It’s a move to keep new cases of COVID-19 from entering the country.
The new travel restrictions would apply only to most foreign nationals who have been to one of 26 European countries.
The restrictions don’t apply to legal permanent residents, immediate family of U.S citizens or others “identified in the proclamation” signed by Trump.
HOW IT WORKS
- The travel ban will begin Friday at midnight.
- It will last for 30 days.
- The restrictions do not apply to travelers from the United Kingdom.
- Homeland security said these travel restrictions would only apply to foreign nationals and not American citizens, green card holders or the families of U.S. citizens.
