NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A Florida man had to be freed last week after getting locked inside a grocery store in New Port Richey.
According to WFTS, Robert Bigot, from Trinity, says that he went to Winn-Dixie on Wednesday night to pick up some household groceries when he had to use the restroom just before 11 p.m.
While in the bathroom, Bigot did not hear the warnings that the store would soon be closing, and when he finished using the restroom, he walked out to find that the store was empty and the doors were locked.
"I went to the front and everyone was gone. I was yelling, 'Hello? Hello?' It was two or three minutes after 11 and everybody was already gone," Bigot told WFTS.
He called his fiancé, who notified the sheriff's office of his situation. Bigot says that when deputies arrived, they triggered the store's alarm while trying to open the doors.
He returned home after deputies took down information from his driver's license.
