BROWN DEER, Wis. — Two people were killed and two were injured in a shooting Saturday morning at an apartment complex in suburban Milwaukee, authorities said Saturday.
Police were called to the Park Place Apartments in Brown Deer, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
Officers were called to the complex at about 10:10 a.m. CST, according to WISN-TV. According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, preliminary reports indicate that a man and woman were killed. Autopsies will be performed on Monday, officials said.
The suspect is in custody, Brown Deer Police Chief Peter Nimmer said during a news conference Saturday afternoon.
One of the injured victims is in critical condition at an area hospital, WJDT-TV reported.
Nimmer said the suspect fired shots at officers but none were hurt, The Associated Press reported. He added that the officers did not return fire. The chief did not give the names or ages of the victims but said no children were hurt.
Nimmer said a tactical team is remaining at the complex, the Journal Sentinel reported. He added there was no threat to residents in the area.
Officers from multiple departments were at the scene, including the Milwaukee Police Department, and Brown Deer and Whitefish Bay police, according to the newspaper.
Brown Deer is located northwest of Milwaukee in Milwaukee County.
