CHICAGO — Five people were wounded Friday night when a gunman opened fire in a Chicago parking lot, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in the Lake Meadows neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, WLS-TV reported.
According to the Chicago Police Department, a group of people was standing in the parking lot at about 11:45 p.m. CDT when a person began firing shots in their direction, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
None of the people struck by gunfire were believed to have injuries considered to be life-threatening.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the chin and a 19-year-old man was struck in the leg, the newspaper reported. Both were in good condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. An 18-year-old woman was also struck in the leg and was in good condition at the same hospital, the Sun-Times reported.
Two men were transported to Mercy Hospital, according to the newspaper. A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm, and a 26-year-old man was shot in the leg. Both were in good condition, WGN-TV reported.
No one is in custody, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
