DENVER — In a disturbing disappearance, a box of human heads was stolen from a medical truck in Denver on Thursday, authorities said.
The human remains were stolen from the truck, which is used to transport body parts for medical research, KDVR-TV reported.
According to the Denver Police Department, the theft occurred at about 11 a.m. MST. Police said someone broke into the box truck and stole the remains, which had “Science Care” written on it, the television station reported.
Police added that a dolly was also stolen from the truck.
“Pretty shocking. I guess I don’t see too many strange things happening around here usually, but you know you never know,” Denver resident Isaac Fields, who lives in the neighborhood where the theft occurred, told KDVR. “Wow! I would have been so terrified.”
The box measured 20 inches by 15 inches by 18 inches, the television station reported.
According to its website, Science Care is a program for donating bodies to science to help improve scientific research and education.
KDVR reached out to the company to learn more about the destination of the human remains.
Police said there have been no arrests so far. They asked that anyone who may know where the remains are or have any information that can help identify the suspect(s) should call the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
