ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — An elderly woman has died after she was attacked by two alligators in Florida Friday evening.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office told WTVT that a woman was attacked by two alligators in a pond near Englewood, Florida by her home.
According to WTVT, an elderly woman was seen falling into a pond along a golf course and she had a struggle. Investigators believe that the two alligators spotted the woman and grabbed her while she was in the water.
WBBH said the incident happened just before 8 p.m. and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman has not been identified yet.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission removed the alligators from the pond, according to WTVT. One of the alligators was about 8 feet, 10 inches long. The second alligator was about 7 feet, 7 inches long, FWC told WTVT.
The investigation is ongoing by SCSO, according to WBBH.
