You may have seen the warnings from your Facebook friends that a new scam is making the rounds in the guise of a well-known and often-used company -- FedEx.

Victims are receiving text messages claiming that there’s a delivery with the message providing a tracking code from FedEx. There’s also a link to click to set delivery preferences, ABC News reported.

But the message is fake and the link takes the recipient to a scam site disguised as an Amazon page, CNN reported.

Eventually, the scam asks for a credit card number in exchange for a free gift.

FedEx released a statement to ABC News and CNN saying that the company monitors scams that use the company’s brand and works with law enforcement agencies to stop them.

Company officials said FedEx does not send texts or emails to customers asking for any information and if a customer gets one of the questionable messages, they should report it to abuse@fedex.com.
