According to WPLG and WTVJ, Demetrick “Psych” Sanders, 45, is facing attempted murder and armed robbery charges in the incident, which occurred in the West Little River area of Miami-Dade County.

In the arrest affidavit, Miami-Dade police said the victim was standing outside Northside Supermarket on 32nd Avenue the morning of Jan. 22 when Sanders walked up to him and asked for money. After the victim said no, Sanders used a broomstick to attack him before slicing him with a machete, the affidavit said. Sanders then bit the victim’s face and fled after taking his phone and $350, police said.

The victim sought help at a 79th Street gas station and was treated at a nearby hospital, WPLG reported.

One week later, the victim again spotted Sanders at the supermarket and alerted police, the news outlets reported. Sanders was arrested and jailed without bond, authorities said.
