Man tries to rob bank, gets away empty-handed in wheelchair, police say

NEW YORK — A midday attempted bank robbery has police looking for a man they said got away using a wheelchair.

The attempted robbery happened on Dec. 4 around 1:50 p.m., WPIX reported. Police just recently released the details.

Officials said a man using a cane walked into a Wells Fargo bank on Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, WCBS reported.

Police said the man passed a teller a note demanding cash.

But the teller didn’t hand over any money.

The man allegedly fled the bank using a wheelchair.

He has not been found and no money was taken.

Police said a similar attempted robbery happened Tuesday when a man walked into another Wells Fargo on the Upper West Side demanding cash, but left before getting money, Patch reported.
